MVCSC welcomes funding applications from local community groups for projects that align with the organisation’s mission to promote ecological restoration, future-proof water infrastructure, improve local biodiversity and encourage education across the McLaren Vale region.

Applications must be submitted using the below application form link and are received by the MVCSC Board for discussion and approval.

Timeline:

Applications open on May 1 and close on May 31 each year.

Successful projects are announced on June 20 each year, ready for commencement from July 1.

Funding applications have now closed for 2024.

All applications are evaluated by MVCSC Directors to assess their feasibility, suitability and required resources. All decisions are discretionary and may be declined due to budgetary constraints, existing partnerships or other reasons.

Successful applicants will be contacted via email. Please allow eight weeks from submission for outcome response.

Project funding priorities

Our primary purpose is to support community-led projects that promote ecological restoration, future-proof water infrastructure and improve local biodiversity and education.

In general, MVCSC funds grants of up to $10,000 per project. Larger projects may be considered where exceptional value can be demonstrated.

Who can apply?

The applicant must:

  • be an individual, volunteer, community organisation or other body working at the local level, delivering a not-for-profit project

  • undertake activities that help to achieve MVCSC priorities at the local level

  • be a legal entity or be sponsored by a legal entity

  • have the agreement of any partner and/or sponsoring organisation to submit the proposal, and provide a letter of support with the application form

  • ensure they are adequately insured with minimum of $1 million public liability insurance coverage for the life of the project

  • ensure that written approval for any works undertaken on land owned by another person/entity, other than the applicant, is attached to the application

  • undertake project activities within the McLaren Vale GI region (See link here for a for a map of the region)

An entity or individual does not require “not for profit” status to be eligible for funding. However, there does need to be a clear public/community benefit to support local level action.

Applicants must either be a legal entity (e.g., an individual, partnership, corporation/company, incorporated association) or be sponsored by a legal entity. If a sponsor is used, they will enter into the grant agreement and be responsible for managing the funding on the applicant’s behalf.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to form partnerships (i.e., joint applications) with relevant organisations and explore ways to share resources between areas and projects to maximise outcomes and minimise the costs of administration and other forms of duplication.
